Our Work
Local Employment Referral (I Can)
I Can is an established employment support and training programme run by the Birmingham & Solihull Integrated Care Board (ICB)and the University Hospital Birmingham (UHB) on behalf of the health trusts in the ICB area.
Programme Overview
I Can programme pools vacancies for entry level jobs from across the trusts, and creates one pathway of training and support, with local partner organisations engaged through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with UHB for local outreach and pre-employment and functional skills support. This enables progression to entry to the UHB Learning Hub in-house training programme and job application support leading ultimately to the potential securing of employment.
This project seeks to support continued delivery of the ICAN programme through provision of local outreach and pre-employment support that Loconomy is providing to University Hospital Birmingham through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).
Key Project Deliverables include: engagement of 400 residents, accessing pre-employment support for ICAN, and an increased proportion successfully entering the ICAN training, or another positive outcome.
The programme will contribute to increased proportion of East Birmingham and North Solihull residents succeeding to enter UHB training programme and increased proportion succeeding to gain jobs in NHS or other employment. As this is Public Health funded, we are seeking to monitor and evaluate the impact of the project on the health and wellbeing of the clients engaged in the programme.
