Our Programmes

Our focus is working across Birmingham from our base in St Paul’s Centre in Bordesley Green

We are a spin off from The Pioneer Group, a small independent housing association in Northeast Birmingham and a key member of the Birmingham Anchor Network. We look forward to continuing to work in partnership with them in the years ahead. During our incubation phase we helped 150 people into entry level jobs, made over 400 referrals from communities into the UHB ICAN entry level jobs programme, worked with 150 year 11 pupils in six east Birmingham schools to shape better learning and skills platforms for their futures.

Programmes

ICAN 2

ICAN is a UHB led entry level jobs programme providing residents with opportunities for a range of entry level jobs.

Over nearly 2 years around 380 job outcomes have been delivered with significant take up in Birmingham’s deprived wards, with BAME and people with disabilities. We are currently exploring a partnership with UHB and others on how this programme can be taken forward
over the next 2 years. Watch this space!

Partnerships for People and Place 2

We piloted as part of The Pioneer Group an intensive 12-month programme providing coach mentoring to 150 pupils over three terms.

With look and see visits arranged to prospective employers in different sectors from Green Tech, to advanced manufacturing engineering, Creatives and Health and Social Care with an ambitious high-profile event at Millenium Point bringing 120 pupils into a prestigious day with employers.

Loconomy is currently delivering a light touch programme in the same six schools in 2023/24 initially through seed funding obtained. We are exploring a partnership arrangement with UoB, Birmingham City Council and schools for a potential 2-year programme.

Druids Heath

Over the past two year The Pioneer Group have been working with the community, gathering views and feelings on the regeneration to shape the emerging vision and masterplan for Druids Heath.

The team have been reporting regularly on findings to Birmingham City Council as well as communicating feedback on the Druids Heath Together website and social media. We’re are just completing this work.

Loconomy have been commissioned by the City Council to continue to work on the resident engagement programme for a further six months. For further detail of our activity check out the Druids Heath website.
